
How to identify your SYNC® version
Four versions of SYNC are available, including SYNC with MyFord Touch, depending on your vehicle’s model and year. Learn which version of SYNC you have.
Learn moreShould you choose to turn your Automatic Updates OFF but keep Notifications ON (manual setting), you will not receive Over-the-Air Updates automatically, and you will be prompted to accept the update. Keep an eye out for the icon on your in-vehicle screen. Click on the icon when it appears to learn more.
Even if you have Automatic Updates ON, there are some occasions when an update needs your permission to continue. When this happens, a icon appears on your in-vehicle screen. Click it to learn more and accept the update.
There are two ways to accept updates:
From your SYNC® screen:
Press the Update Available icon in the status bar
In the status information menu, press Update Available
Accept the update by pressing Update
Or from your SYNC screen:
Press Settings
Press System Updates
a. Depending on your vehicle, this could be on the second or third page of Settings
Press Update Details
Accept the update by pressing Update
From your SYNC® screen:
Press Icon icon in the status bar
Accept the update by pressing Update
Or from your SYNC screen:
Press the vehicle icon
Press Settings
Press System Updates
Press Update Details
Accept the update by pressing Update
Note: If Automatic Updates and Notifications are OFF, your vehicle will not receive any updates. This means your vehicle will not receive any new features or critical updates via Over-the-Air. Learn how to change connectivity settings.
