What if I Can’t Get the FordPass Charging Network to Work?

Ford customers have simple and easy access to the FordPass Charging Network – the largest charging network in North America offered by automotive manufacturers with over 16,000 charging stations and growing, which allows owners to locate, activate and pay for charging through the FordPass App. But, because it’s new technology, it’s possible that there can be a few bumps along the way. Here are some options to help troubleshoot if you can’t get the FordPass Charging Network to work.

First, be sure you have the following:

I plugged into a charge station, but the charger won’t activate.

  1. Unplug and re-plug into the charge station.

  2. In the FordPass App, locate the charging station you’re at by clicking “Nearby Chargers” or by looking for the charge station on the FordPass App map.

  3. Click on the charge station details.

  4. Press “Select” next to the charge plug you are plugged into.

  5. Scroll down and press “Activate.”

  6. Your charge session should begin.

  7. If your charge session does not begin or you get a “Fault” message, please try a different charge station or select a different plug at that station.

I’m at a DC fast charger and it’s not working with my vehicle.

Check the top or side of the charge station to see if it is an EFACEC station. If so, we are working to update the station so that it will work with your vehicle in the future, but until then, we recommend finding another station.

I’m at an Electrify America charge station and it’s not working with my vehicle.

You need to activate your modem, connect your vehicle with your FordPass App, activate your FordPass Charging Network access and toggle on “Plug & Charge”. If you’re already activated and connected:

  1. Unplug and re-plug into the charge station.

  2. In the FordPass App, locate the charging station you’re at by clicking “Nearby Chargers” or by looking for the charge station on the FordPass App map.

  3. Click on the charge station details.

  4. Press “Select” next to the charge plug you’re plugged into.

  5. Scroll down and press “Activate.”

  6. Your charge session should begin.

  7. If your charge session does not begin or you get a “Fault” message, please call the Electrify America phone number located on the charge location.

I’m NOT at an Electrify America or EFACEC charge station and it is still not working with my vehicle.

We want to get to the bottom of it. Contact the Ford Call Center at 833-385-0512 or press the call button in the Help section of the FordPass App.
