When should I change my oil filter?

For newer model-year vehicles, the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor® (IOLM) system will display messages when it’s time to change your oil filter after analyzing your vehicle’s data.

For older model year vehicles, you should consult your owner’s manual to determine the appropriate time to change your oil filter. For older vehicles the maintenance interval is to change your oil filter every 5,000-7,500 miles. If you normally drive in more extreme conditions as dirt roads or with heavy towing loads, you may need to replace your oil filter more often.

By connecting your SYNC 3 or SYNC 4 vehicle to the FordPass App through AppLink, you can also receive Vehicle Health Alerts* directly to your phone that will tell you when it’s time to change your oil filter. Alerts are accompanied by buttons to call Roadside Assistance** or to call or schedule an online appointment with your preferred dealer.

Visit your local Ford Dealership for a replacement Motorcraft® oil filter or visit the Ford Parts website.

When should I change my cabin air filter?

You should change your cabin air filter per your vehicle’s owner’s manual. For most vehicles the replacement interval is 15,000 to 20,000 miles, depending on your vehicle model and model year. However, you may want to replace it more often if you or a frequent passenger suffer from allergies or respiratory problems, drive on dirt roads, in excessively dusty conditions, or heavily polluted areas.

Cabin air filters enhance the air quality inside your vehicle, creating a healthier, more comfortable environment for you and your passengers. A properly functioning cabin air filter can prevent up to 90 percent of dust, pollen, and spore particles from entering the passenger compartment.

Your vehicle has either a particulate or combination filter. Combination filters work just like standard particulate filters by stopping dust, pollen and spore particles, but they also have added benefits. Combination filters prevent harmful gases from getting into your vehicle.

When should I change my engine air filter?

You should change your engine air filter at the interval designated in your owner’s manual, which is commonly around 30,000 miles depending on your vehicle model and model year. You may want to replace it more often if you drive on dirt roads, in excessively dusty conditions, if you see a lot of dirt or debris in the filter, experience a rough idle or sluggish acceleration or decreased efficiency.

A properly functioning air filter can stop contaminants from getting into the engine, thereby extending engine life. It also lets the engine breathe easier, which can enhance performance and efficiency.

If you replace filters at recommended intervals, you can extend the performance and life of your car, truck or SUV. And when you use a Motorcraft® air filter, you’re using a factory-approved replacement part that is specifically made for your vehicle.

When should I change my fuel filter?

You should refer to your owner's manual to determine when to change your fuel filter. Common symptoms of a worn out filter include a vehicle that is difficult to start, idles roughly or stalls, accelerates sluggishly or has decreased fuel economy.

When the fuel filter gets clogged, your engine's performance can suffer. A new fuel filter removes contaminants from fuel while still allowing the proper amount of fuel to flow to your engine. It's important to watch for symptoms of a worn fuel filter.

Motorcraft® fuel filters are recommended by Ford and made specifically for your vehicle. Visit your local Ford Dealership for a fuel filter replacement or visit the Ford parts website.
