Routine maintenance helps keep your vehicle in the best possible condition. Maintenance helps your vehicle last longer and run more efficiently. Use this guide to help preserve your vehicle’s performance, value, and reliability.

The benefits of regular maintenance

By maintaining your vehicle, you preserve your vehicle’s optimal operation, reliability, and safety. You also ensure maximum fuel efficiency and improved trade-in or resale value. To enjoy these benefits, use the simple guidelines below.

Monthly maintenance checklist

Every month, it’s recommended that you check the following:

  • Function of all interior and exterior lights
  • Wear and tear on tires
  • Engine oil fluid level
  • Windshield washer fluid level

More information about recommended maintenance is available in your Owner's Manual.

Maintenance basics

In addition to the monthly checks listed above, there are a number of steps you can take to help preserve your vehicle’s condition.

  • Change your oil. An oil and filter change is one of the most important types of maintenance – and the one your vehicle needs most frequently. Ford Motor Company generally recommends getting an oil change every 7,500 miles or every six months for 2008 and new model year vehicles. Consult your Owner’s Manual for more details.
  • Rotate your tires. Have your tires rotated every time you get your oil changed. This helps distribute wear evenly.
  • Have your tires balanced and wheels aligned. If you notice that your vehicle pulls to one side while you’re driving, it may be a sign that you need an alignment.
  • Drive smart. Avoid aggressive driving, which can damage your vehicle.

To find out what scheduled maintenance is recommended for your vehicle, consult your Owner's Manual.

The multi-point inspection

This service evaluates your vehicle’s fluid levels, key system and component status, tire-tread depth and wear patterns, brake pad thickness, and battery life. Inspecting your vehicle allows your technician to identify any problems and recommend the appropriate service.
