How to use mobile apps with SYNC 3 AppLink

SYNC® 3 features SYNC AppLink™, so you can use voice commands and your steering wheel buttons to control your favorite apps on your smartphone or other device.27,63

Stream Internet radio, listen to podcasts, sportscasts, news and traffic, get an allergy alert, and order pizza on your way home—all without fumbling through phone menus.

Note: Compatible apps must be open and running on properly paired phone.

Use voice commands to control your smartphone apps

With SYNC® AppLink™, you can use voice commands and your steering wheel buttons to control your favorite mobile applications. Search this catalog to find desired smartphone apps, and see how easily they work with SYNC AppLink commands.27,63

 SYNC AppLink is available on select models and compatible with select smartphone platforms. SYNC AppLink is not compatible with MyFord Touch. Commands may vary by phone and SYNC AppLink software.

Why doesn't SYNC AppLink recognize my apps?

Using your mobile apps while keeping your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel is a great convenience. We know how aggravating it can be if you can’t access them.

Here are a few troubleshooting tips to ensure that SYNC® AppLink™ can access your compatible mobile apps. 27,43,48,63

Note: SYNC AppLink-compatible mobile applications are available for Android™, and iPhone® smartphone platforms, and new applications are being added regularly. Applications can be purchased and downloaded through Google Play and the iTunes® App Store. Not all smartphones support SYNC AppLink, and not all applications are available for all phone platforms.

How do I use SYNC AppLink with my iPhone?

Many of us want to be connected everywhere, all the time. SYNC® AppLink™ allows you to use your compatible iPhone® mobile apps while keeping your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel. 27,48,63

Here’s how to use SYNC AppLink* with your iPhone* or other iOS device.25

*SYNC AppLink works with iOS devices, such as iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, iOS 6.0 and later. Apple® users must connect their device via USB and have compatible app running in background. 

Does my vehicle have SYNC® AppLink®?

SYNC AppLink uses voice-activated technology to build a hands-free bridge between you and your mobile phone applications. Once your device is connected to SYNC, AppLink allows you to have a similar experience in your vehicle that you enjoy on your Android™ smartphone, iPhone®, and some iOS devices.27,43,48,63
