In vehicles equipped with SYNC® with MyFord Touch®, controls and screens have replaced traditional knobs and buttons. It’s important to know where these controls are and how to interact with them.27

Please note, features may vary based on your vehicle’s configuration.

Steering wheel

Voice

Depending on your vehicle's year and model, the Voice control is labeled with either the word or an icon. Voice activates Voice Recognition, which lets you give a command or interrupt SYNC.

Media

Depending on your vehicle’s year and model, the Media control is labeled with either a word or letter (Mode, Media, Menu, M) or an icon (music note). Media selects the media source (i.e. AM/FM radio, CD player, or other media device).

Seek

Depending on your vehicle’s year and model, the Seek control is labeled with either a four-way arrow or a right and left double arrow. Seek moves through the menu choices.

Volume

Depending on your vehicle’s year and model, the Volume control is labeled with either the word or an icon with plus (+) and minus (–) symbols. Volume controls audio volume.

Phone

Depending on your vehicle’s year and model, the Phone control is labeled with either the word or an icon (may include a single or double arrow). Phone activates the phone menu, accepts incoming calls, or ends a call.

OK

Depending on your vehicle’s year and model, the OK control is labeled with either the word or an icon. OK confirms your selections.

8-inch touchscreen

Phone

Phone (yellow background), displays a standard numeric keypad for direct dialing, along with buttons for quick dialing, phonebook, call log, text messaging (if compatible with your Bluetooth®-enabled phone), and other general communications settings.48

Information

Information appears by default when a vehicle is not equipped with Navigation.  It displays options to access SYNC Services, SiriusXM Travel Link alerts, and your personal calendar.34,129

Navigation

Navigation (green background), if equipped, replaces Information in the upper-right corner of the touchscreen. You can type an address and get turn-by-turn directions, find your current location, and cancel a route.

Climate

Climate (blue background), displays options to access and adjust certain climate control features such as air flow direction, increase/decrease the temperature, and activate heated seats (if equipped).

Entertainment

Entertainment (red background), displays options to select and listen to music through the SYNC audio system using the AM/FM radio or CD player, HD Radio™, or a paired Bluetooth-enabled or plugged-in device.

Menu

In addition to the four corners, there is a menu in the center of the bottom of the touchscreen displaying two or three of the following icons.
 

  • Home provides access to the home screen, which also appears when you start your vehicle.
  • Settings displays options to the settings screen and can be accessed from any screen in the system.
  • Information icon appears only in vehicles equipped with the optional SD Card Navigation system.

Radio controls

Power

Power turns the radio system on or off. You can control this feature from either the center console or the touchscreen.

Volume

Depending on your vehicle’s year and model, the Radio Volume control is either a dial including tune and seek with power in the center (left) or a dial with power in the center (right). Radio Volume increases or decreases the radio system volume. You can control this feature from the center console.

Instrument cluster LCD displays

Left Display

The left vehicle information display configures various vehicle settings and shows the status of vehicle functions. It can also include typical instrument cluster features such as a fuel gauge and tachometer. Exact features may vary based on your vehicle’s configuration.

Right Display

The right vehicle information display gives you access to the most-used functions of the touchscreen, such as audio features, climate control, and phone menus. It can also give you access to the SD Card Navigation system, if equipped. Exact features may vary based on your vehicle’s configuration.

Media hub

USB ports

USB port(s) provide input for USB supported media playing devices and flash drives containing SYNC software updates, or your own entertainment selections and photos. These ports also charge USB supported devices.

SD card reader

SD card reader slot provides input for SD cards containing the optional SD Card Navigation system and trip information (if equipped with the Navigation system), or your own entertainment selections and photos.

Audio/video RCA connectors

Audio/video RCA connectors provide input for older portable media devices that only have a headphone jack, and just about any video players, video games, video iPod®, and camcorders.48
