Tips For Selling Your Vehicle
Increasing resale value
If your current vehicle is a Ford or Lincoln and you purchased a Ford or Lincoln Extended Service Plan, you’re in luck. That’s because Ford Motor Company-trained technicians performed its maintenance using Motorcraft® and Ford Motor Company Genuine Parts. Your Ford or Lincoln Extended Service Plan is also fully transferable to new owners. Both of these features help increase or preserve your vehicle’s resale value, remove uncertainty and provide added peace of mind to the buyer.
Cleaning, detailing and touching up
Thoroughly clean your vehicle, both inside and outside. Once you’ve done that, take care of any nicks, chips or scratches with touch-up paint. Examine your vehicle as if you were buying it yourself. If it looks dirty or worn to you, chances are it will look that way to a potential buyer as well.
Trading in
If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of selling your vehicle, you can trade it in when you buy your new Ford or Lincoln. That effectively reduces the price of your new vehicle. To get a good idea of what your trade-in vehicle is worth, do some research on the Intelliprice or Kelley Blue Book websites. Share your findings with your dealership salesperson.
Donating to charity
Yet another option is donating your vehicle to a 501(c)(3) charity that will give you a deduction equal to the fair market (FMV) of the vehicle when it is sold. You should consult your accountant for more information.
