Care & Maintenance Tips
When To Change Your Air Filter
Your air filter helps trap dirt particles from the outside, keeping them from getting into your engine and wearing down its vital components.
Ford Motor Company generally recommends an air filter replacement every 15,000 miles. Visit your Ford or Lincoln Dealership for a replacement air filter earlier, however, if you notice any of the following:
- A lot of dirt or debris in the filter
- Decreased engine performance
- Jerky or slow acceleration
- Coughing or spitting noises when your engine is idling
The simple answer: it’s smart. Other shops may use a generic one-size-fits-all air filter, which can allow larger particles through to your engine. At your dealership, you can be sure you’ll get a Motorcraft® air filter that fits your specific vehicle and is recommended by Ford Motor Company.
Also, Ford Motor Company-trained technicians are the experts when it comes to your vehicle. They’ll make sure that the diagnosis is correct and can check all your vehicle’s other crucial systems too.
Visit your Ford or Lincoln Dealership for a replacement air filter that:
- Helps eliminate dirt particles that can enter through the intake system and upset the proper mix of air and fuel to the engine
- Offers resistance to temperature extremes
- Meets at least 98.5% efficiency standard in coarse dust testing
- Is made for your vehicle – not a one-size-fits-all product
- Is recommended by Ford Motor Company
